Depths of Indigo 1 is a fascinating study of juxtaposition using a hyper-abstraction style. The work on canvas plays in dualities of composition. Two contrasting scenes present a tranquil motif in the upper portion of the picture plane offset by a turbulent vista in the lower. A strong implied line separating the two views offers a bit of balance. Variations are made more pronounced by a nearly solid color field on top set off by multiple tonalities below. The insertion of uncanny elements – a mysterious illuminated blob, a shock of bright yellow, seemingly atmospheric elements – lends a celestial feel to the composition. A mostly blue color palette in midnight blue with streaks of turquoise and illuminating white creates a sense of ethereal depth, drawing the viewer into a contemplative journey in space. An engaging addition to ART by TA, Depths of Indigo 1 is a masterful study of color, light, and technique.
